Biologist in Training
BSc (Hons) Ecology
Hi! My name is Elias, and I'm a Biologist in Training and a graduate from the University of British Columbia in ecology. I’m passionate about community driven ecological research and spending time outdoors.
Currently, I am working for BC Parks as a Student Ranger based out of Bowron Lakes. Here, I support recreation, conservation, and community relations through hands on maintenance of trails and facilities and by interacting with the public.
In past research positions I have studied parasites of moose in the Boreal forests of Manitoba, the effects of heat stress on Arctic Lupine in the Cascade Mountains, and the impacts of climate change on plant and animal communities in the Western Canadian Arctic.
Along the way, I’ve gained valuable experience in working safely outdoors, conducting computational analysis, collaborating with communities, and communicating science. With a strong scientific background, I am now looking to work on projects that combine field research and community knowledge to inform conservation and climate change adaptation.
