Hi! My name is Elias, and I am a Biologist in Training interested in how we can mesh scientific research and the knowledge of communities to strengthen conservation and management practices. With a strong scientific background, I am now looking to work on projects that combine field research and community engagement to inform conservation.
I am passionate about stewardship, and have worked on diverse research and backcountry infrastructure projects across Canada, in boreal, alpine, coastal, and Arctic ecosystems. I am a confident leader and have managed all stages of field projects, from study design, collaboration, and first aid to data collection, statistics, and presentation of results.
Most recently, I worked for BC Parks as a Student Ranger in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast, and as a Field Technician for the Mother Tree Project on Haida Gwaii.
In past research positions I have studied parasites of moose in the Boreal forests of Manitoba, the effects of heat stress on Arctic Lupine in the Cascade Mountains, and the impacts of climate change on plant and animal communities in the Western Canadian Arctic.
